You typically see works by surfer artist Damien Share brightening up area restaurants like The Scrambled Egg in Indian Harbour Beach.
Now, though, Mr. Share has an exhibition in a proper gallery — the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.
His acrylic paintings are vivid and evoke a pristine Florida beachlife and lagoon. While his whimsical perspective and fine skill used to depict shimmery waters set him apart, he prefers to think of himself as belonging to a whole. Here’s his comment from a press release: “I like to think that art is not about competing but cooperating with fellow artists.”
His exhibition runs through April at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, 1470 Highland Avenue, Melbourne (the heart of the Eau Gallie Arts District). Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Free admission. Call 321-259-8261 or visit www.FifthAvenueArtGallery.com.
