Brevard artist Nancy Seib will do a walk-through of the art in her one-woman show, “Symbols & Sighs,” 2 p.m. Saturday (June 13) at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.
This will no doubt be stimulating and eye-opening.
And, as expected from this evocative artist who’s never ever been afraid to speak her mind, “Symbols & Sighs” has an edge, laced with irony. Ms. Seib, always at the ready for a witty observation, received her MFA from the University of Chicago. As a member of the Ten Women in Art collective, she has exhibited throughout the south. Her work has also been seen outside that group, appearing in national and international exhibits; and her contemplative assemblage “Windows” is in the permanent collection at the Foosaner Art Museum.
The exhibition, which runs through June 24, resulted from Ms. Seib’s win of the Fifth Avenue’s 2014 100% Pure Florida juried competition. July 25 is the deadline for the 2015 competition.
Those accepted into the competition will be in the 100% Pure Florida exhibit, its 10th annual, by the way, opening Sept. 4, 2015. That winner, like Ms. Seib, will have a one-person show next year.
