Tori

Facebook feeds in Brevard’s theater community have been agog with news about yet another theater couple becoming engaged. This time it’s Tori Terhune and Josh Huss — the most adorable couple on the entire planet!
Their story couldn’t be more perfect even if Disney creative came up with the idea. We lunched on bagels and coffee at the Sun Shoppe while they told their story.
Tori, 24, and Josh, also 24 (he’s one month older), were high school sweethearts at Merritt Island High School, college sweethearts at the University of Central Florida…and Brevard community theater sweethearts. Appropriately so, they met in their high school drama department production of “Into the Woods.” Tori played the role of “Little Red” and Josh worked lights and tech.
You also see Tori on stage at Melbourne Civic Theatre — recently she read the role of Emily in MCT’s public reading of “Third.” And Josh is a lighting designer at the Henegar Center and occasional actor — he was Hal in the Henegar’s production of “Proof.”
But it was during a recent vacation to Iceland and London that their roles began to broaden. Josh decided he would propose. He had brought a ring with him and planned a romantic row boat ride on the Serpentine Lake in London’s Hyde Park. It was a sunny June day when he suddenly knelt on one knee — right there in the row boat — took out the ring and proposed.
“My heart was thumping,” Josh said, placing his hand over his heart.
“I was half crying and half giggling,” Tori said.
“She said ‘Are you serious?’ then she said ‘Yes, of course’,” Josh said. “And I think she said ‘Yes, of course’ again.”
She immediately called her mom and her brother. He immediately called his parents. Then, he texted his three sisters. Both families were ecstatic. They waited a few days before they let people know via social media.
It’s fun watching this young couple talk about where they want their wedding, which is sort of planned for the spring in 2017. (Since they love traveling together the world over, I suggested they get married on “The Amazing Race.”) Who knows, they might end up one of Brevard’s “power theater couples.”
And the beat goes on…
THE FUTURE: Tori currently works as a sales associate for Swanky Sole. She’s considering working as casting director for her mother, Cathy Terhune, who runs Edge Entertainment which provides shows for cruise ships. In addition to doing lighting design at the Henegar, Josh is tech director for the theater at Bayside High School. Personally, I think Disney Creative should get their hands on this couple. They are talented, educated, charming and…well…cute as anything.
