ARTISTS TALKS at Ruth Funk Center

Exhibit Highlight: Totemic Patterns of Light (Installation)

The Friends of Textiles Lecture Series will present artists Alex Trimino and Carrie Sieh to speak about their works which form the exciting exhibit “Reimagined: Innovations in Fiber” which is on view through May 7 at the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts.

Ms. Trimino speaks at 6 p.m. tonight. The gallery talk is preceded by a reception at 5:15 p.m. Her work, as shown in the exhibit, revisits the use of crochet, knitting and weaving to explore societal evolution. As the press release states, “In her pieces, old things, old ways and new technologies commingle, exploring how we connect to reality today.”

Ms. Sieh speaks at 6 p.m. April 12. Her work explores textiles in context of technology and history.

The cost for each lecture is $10 for the general public and free to members of the Friends of Textiles organization as well as full time Florida Tech students, faculty and staff (bring your Florida Tech I.D.)

The Ruth Funk Center is on the campus of FLORIDA TECH, next to the entrance of the Botanical Gardens. The address is 150 W. University Ave., Melbourne. Call 321-674-8313.
